Resources Augmented To Meet Challenges In 2022 Along IB: IG BSF Jammu Frontier
Jammu, Jan 24: Stating that Border Security Force has performed exceptionally well on the operational front, Inspector General BSF Jammu Frontier, D K Boora on Monday said the resources along the international border have been augmented to meet the challenges in 2022.
“We are ready to face any challenge and to foil nefarious designs triggered from across the border in an ensuing year, we have augmented our resources,” Boora here told reporters.
He said in the beginning of this year, alert BSF troops scuttled a major bid of anti-national elements by recovering 4.950 kg narcotics and a consignment of arms and ammunition on International Border in Arnia Sector.
Sharing the details, the IG said this year so far, 4.950-kg narcotics, three Ak-47 rifles, five Ak-47 magazines, four pistols, seven pistol magazines, ten rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, four 7.62 mm ammunition and seven 9 mm ammunition, were recovered.
“Being the first line of defence on the Pakistan and Bangladesh Borders, BSF is dominating the International Border relentlessly,” said Boora adding, “Frontier Headquarter BSF Jammu is manning about 192 km of International Border with Pakistan and also deployed on Line of Control alongwith Indian Army in Naushera in Rajouri and Poonch sector.”
He said BSF Jammu Frontier has also been in the forefront in assisting border population through various initiatives. Further, the IG BSF said, “BSF has performed exceptionally with strict vigil and made remarkable achievements in the Year 2021. Despite deployment in hostile area as well as sensitive and hyper sensitive scenarios, BSF has always stood up to the challenges with aplomb.”
“As a result of robust domination and surveillance on International Border, there has been continued peace on the Jammu border and BSF Jammu has relentlessly carried out anti-tunnel drives along IB and due to its efforts it was able to detect two tunnels on International Border in the month of January 2021and made a huge dent to the infiltration attempts by anti national elements from Pakistan,” said Boora.
He said detection of these tunnels also exposed the nefarious designs of Pakistan based terrorists and smugglers, adding, “Hence, Jammu IB remained peaceful as a consequence of strong dominance and surveillance of BSF.”
“The last year has been ‘Achievement Oriented’ with detection of tunnels and seizure of huge caches of arms, ammunition and narcotics and the aim of anti-national elements to spread disharmony by carrying out nefarious activities stands thwarted,” said the IG.
He also added that BSF is fully prepared and has augmented its resources to rise upto the challenges in 2022, further adding, “BSF Jammu has been dedicatedly participating in relief work during COVID-19 pandemic and always endeavoured to help the needy during difficult times.”
Boora said the ever vigilant troops of BSF were also able to neutralize one Pakistani smuggler who was trying to smuggle a consignment of narcotics from Kathua border wherein BSF seized about 27.225 Kgs of narcotics. Apart from this, BSF troops also seized about 10.935 Kgs of narcotics from Akhnoor, alongwith Rs. 2,75,000 fake Indian currency notes.
“Keeping continued vigil BSF was able to neutralize six intruders and apprehend three Pakistani intruders, who were trying to infiltrate through the IB from January 2021 till date,” he said.
Meanwhile , sharing the details regarding recoveries made in 2021 by the BSF, the spokesman said in Jammu Region and Rajouri, Poonch sector, it included 38.160-kg narcotics, four Ak-47 rifles, seven Ak-47 magazine, 339 Ak ammunition, 13 pistols, 32 pistol magazine, 371 rounds of Pistol ammunition, eight hand grenades, four Chinese Grenades, one UBGL grenade, over 233 rounds of other ammunition, 16 metre Cordex, one wireless set, six mobile sets, one radio signal receiver, 13 detonators, 15 fused detonators of Chinese with levers, two nine volt batteries, five unified Electronic Equipment and four sticky bombs.
