Youth Arrested For Murder Of His Stepmother In Thane

Thane,  The city police have arrested a 25-year-old man from Gujarat for allegedly killing his stepmother in Mumbra recently.

On May 3, accused Imran Kayyum Khan, resident of Kausa in Mumbra, had attacked his stepmother, Shanaz Banu Kayyum Khan (52), with a knife over frequent domestic quarrels and then fled to Gujarat, police said on Tuesday.

Shanaz Banu later succumbed during treatment at a hospital on May 5, following which an offence under section 302 of Indian Penal Code was registered with the local Mumbra police against him. During the course of investigation, the city Crime Branch got a tip that the accused was present in Gujarat.

Based on that, a Crime Branch team went to Dungri of Modasa in Aravali district of Gujarat and arrested accused Imran on Monday, brought him to Thane and handed him over to the local police for further probe, sources added.
