UP: SHO Suspended By ECI
Lucknow, Jan 15 (UNI) The Election Commission of India(ECI) on Saturday ordered the suspension of the SHO of Gautampalli with immediate effect while seeking clarification from senior officials.
This decision by the ECI was taken after taking cognizance of the report of the District Magistrate, Lucknow, sent to it on Friday, regarding the violation of the Model Code of Conduct, by Samajwadi Party leaders in the context of the Covid pandemic.
In a late night order on Friday, ECI ordered suspension of the police station in-charge Gautampalli Dinesh Singh with immediate effect due to gross negligence in the discharge of duties, sources here said on Saturday.
Apart from this, instructions have been given by the commission to get clarification from Assistant Commissioner of Police Akhilesh Singh and Returning Officer 174-Lucknow Central Vidhan Sabha constituency, Additional Municipal Magistrate-I Govind Maurya by 11.00 am on Saturday over the issue.
Samajwadi Party while violating the orders of the ECI, organised a big meeting attended by 2500 people in their office premises on Friday during the joining of some leaders.
Police had already registered a FIR against the SP leaders at Gautampalli police station for violation of the norms.
