Torturing House Help: Suspended BJP Leader(Jharkhand) Seema Patra Arrested
Ranchi, Aug 31: The Ranchi Police have arrested Seema Patra, a local BJP leader and an ex-IAS officer’s wife, for allegedly confining and cruel to her 29-year-old Tribal domestic help.
The swift action came after thousands of Twitter users demanded action against the hooligan leader.
The maid is now undergoing treatment at a hospital in the city, has accused Patra of starving, grievous physical torture with hot iron rod and burning her with hot utensils.
Reportedly, the maid was rescued by the police on Monday. Seema Patra is the wife of former IAS officer Maheshwar Patra. She, however, said Patra’s son had once try to save her from his mother and she is alive because of him.
Amid such social media hashtags and demand for justice the state BJP on Tuesday suspended Seema Patra from the party’s primary membership for the inhumane act of her.
The National Commission for Women also took cognizance of the media reports and ordered action into the alleged crime. NCW chief Rekha Sharma wrote to the Jharkhand Police Chief demanding a report on action taken, in 7 days.
BJP said it had zero tolerance for atrocities against SC and ST communities.
