A middle-aged man has been arrested after he allegedly shot dead a dog for repeatedly tearing apart the seat of his two-wheeler in West Bengal’s Durgapur town police said on Friday.

Fifty five year old Dibyendu Bhowal claimed that he got annoyed as the dog damaged the seat of his scooter several times and also kept on barking that made it difficult for his family members to sleep at night.
When the dog gnawed at the seat again on Tuesday, Bhowal took out a pipe gun in a fit of rage and shot the animal, which died at the spot.

The locals took the victim to the nearby police station in Paschim Bardhaman district and lodged a complaint against Bhowal, who was arrested on Wednesday.
However, Bhowal claimed before the police that he only wanted to scare away the dog, and had no intention to kill it.
May be the accused now in the jail, but a life has gone.
