MSME Min’s Son Moves SC For Bail
New Delhi, Jan 25 : BJP leader and Union Minister of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Narayan Rane’s son Nitesh moved the Supreme Court on Tuesday against a Bombay High Court order. The high court has rejected his anticipatory bail plea in an alleged attempt to murder case, in which he is an accused.
The Bharatiya Janata Party legislator from Maharashtra’s Kankavli, Nitesh Rane, sought an immediate bail from the top court. Senior lawyer and former Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi, appearing for Rane, pleaded before the top court that it is a case of political rivalry, and sought for an urgent hearing in the matter.
A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice NV Ramana, and comprising Justices AS Bopanna and Hima Kohli, agreed to list the matter soon. However, no date has been fixed yet. The case against Rane was registered after Kankavli resident Santosh Parab filed a police complaint claiming he was assaulted by certain persons linked to the Kankavli MLA. The incident took place in December during campaigning for the Sindhudurg District Co-operative Bank polls.
