Demise Of BJP Leader Arjun Chaurasia Is By “Hanging” : Autopsy Report
Kolkata, May 10: The demise of BJP leader Arjun Chaurasia, whose body was found hanging in an abandoned Railway quarters near his home at Cossipore in north Kolkata on May 6, is anti-mortem in nature, according to a post-mortem report of the Command (Army) Hospital in the city.
The hospital authorities on Tuesday submitted the autopsy report before a Division Bench of the Calcutta High Court comprising chief justice Prakash Srivastava.
The autopsy report, submitted in a sealed envelope, stated that the reason of death was anti-mortem in nature and choking of wind-wipe due to hanging. Presence of lasso marks around his neck was also mentioned in the report.
The post mortem, which was conducted on Saturday at the Command Hospital in Alipur following a directive of the court, which also ordered the autopsy to be done in presence of two medics one each from All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS), Kalyani and state- rune RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in north Kolkata.
The bench on Tuesday ordered that the autopsy report and other documents to be submitted to the special investigation report (SIT) of Kolkata Police.
The bench, also comprising Justice R Bharadwaj, said in its order that the findings related to the cause of death of Chourasia is “hanging” and the ligature mark on his neck is “anti-mortem”. The bench directed the autopsy report to be handed over to state Advocate General S N Mookherjee representing the West Bengal government. It also directed that the viscera sample be handed over to the police authority concerned.
