DCW Issues Notice To Delhi Police In Girl Beating Case
New Delhi, Feb 11: The Delhi Commission for Women on Friday issued a notice to Delhi Police, seeking registration of FIR in the brutal beating of a girl in Delhi’s Paschim Vihar area.
The Commission was approached by the Residents’ Welfare Association and some residents, who alleged that the girl was being held captive and allegedly tortured by the accused, DCW said in a statement here.
DCW claimed that the residents provided CCTV footage, which clearly showed a man chasing the girl and brutally beating her in public. The girl tried to run away from the man, who attacked her with sticks and shoes. Seeing the severity of the matter and for ensuring the safety of the girl, the Commission issued a notice to Delhi Police and sought FIR and arrest of the accused in the matter.
The Commission asked the police to investigate the matter and provide details of arrests, rescue of the girl and steps taken to ensure her safety. It further asked the Police to submit an action taken report within two days.
DCW Chief Swati Maliwal said, “I am very agitated after seeing the CCTV footage as the man can be seen mercilessly beating the girl. I thank the RWA representatives and residents of the locality, who brought the matter to our notice. Delhi Police must register an FIR and ensure the safety for the girl.”
