Bengal govt. orders CID probe into two teenagers’ murder
Kolkata, Sep 7 : The West Bengal Government on Wednesday ordered a CID probe into the abduction and murder of two teenage cousins at Baguihati in north eastern Kolkata, a senior minister announced.
State Minister Firhad Hakim said a Criminal Investigation Department (CID) probe has been ordered into the incident.
The Inspector -In-Charge of Baguiati police station has also been closed, Hakim said
Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has expressed her concern over the incident.
Police have so far arrested four suspects, accused of abducting and murdering two teenage boys for ransom in Baguihati, which is under the Bidhannagar City Police Commissionerate..
The kidnapping and murder of the teenagers – Abhishek Naskar and Atanu Dey- happened on August 22, hours after their abduction in a car and the bodies were thrown to two different locations in a canal near Basanti in South 24 Parganas district, the investigation officer said.
The horror of the crime came to light after police arrested a suspect on Monday, who gave clues that led to the arrest of three other accused. However, the prime accused Satyendra Chowdhury, who happens to be known to the victims and their families, and his two other associates in the crime were still at large.
Police said the boys were abducted from Jagatpur for ransom. The amount is yet to be ascertained.
Police suspect the two teenagers were murdered on August 22 itself.
The family of the boys had received an SMS demanding ransom.
Police got into action after the family of the victims lodged a complaint on August 23.
In the FIR, Atanu’s family alleged that Satyendra Chowdhury could be the man behind the abduction.
