Mayawati hits out at UP govt on delay in announcing the hike in sugar price

Lucknow : Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) President Mayawati criticised the Yogi Adityanath government for delaying the announcement of the hike in sugarcane prices, here on Monday.

She also alleged that expansion of the state ministry in the fag end of the tenure will not serve any purpose for the BJP.

In several tweets on Monday morning, former UP chief minister Ms Mayawati said, “UP BJP government kept ignoring the farmers here for the four and a half years and did not increase the support price of sugarcane, which I have pointed out in the enlightened class conference on September 7 last. Now they remember the sugarcane farmer just before the election which shows their selfishness.”

She further said that, “The entire farmer society is very sad and troubled by the anti-farmer policies of the Central and UP government. But now increasing the support price of sugarcane as a face saving tactic before the elections is not the right solution to the basic problem of farming. In such a situation, the farmer is not going to fall under any guise of them”.

Reacting to the expansion of the UP ministry, she said, “Whoever has been made minister by BJP yesterday to mobilize votes on the basis of caste in UP, but it would have been better if they did not accept it because as long as they understand their respective ministry and want to do something, the election code of conduct will be enforced”.

Ms Mayawati said, “While the present BJP government has not taken any concrete steps for the development and upliftment of their society, but most of the works started by the BSP government in their interests have also been stopped. Advice to these classes to be careful with this double-character of the BJP.”

On Sunday Yogi Adityanath government hiked the State Advisory Price(SAP) of sugarcane by Rs 25 per quintal and the state ministry was expanded by inclusion of 7 more ministers.
