Staple Vegetables Price Sky Rocketed: Know The Price

Bhubaneswar: The price of potato has sky rocketed in the recent days in Odisha, much to the agony of the consumers due to the upcoming Cyclone threat.

The middle class families were already overburdened due to the inflated fuel and LPG prices touching the skyline.

Since potato is a staple vegetable in the Odia cuisine, the consumers are at their wits end.

There has been a marked rise in the price of potatoes in the main vegetable hub of Cuttack popularly called as Chatrabazar.

A sack of potatoes that weighs 50 kgs is being sold at Rs. 860.

The reason of the hike however is due to the scarcity of potatoes in West Bengal and the prevailing thtreat of the cyclone Jawad.

According to reports, three kgs of potato is being sold at around Rs. 70/- in the markets.

The information has been shared by Devendra Sahoo the Secretary of the Chatrabazar Traders Association.
