Srimandir Servitors to get Houses : Odisha Guv

Puri : The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) on Thursday informed that the state government will provide houses to the Puri Jagannath temple’s servitors and after Rath Yatra, devotees to be given chariot wheels for free.

The decisions came after a meeting between the Temple Managing Committee which was chaired by Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb and SJTA Chief Administrator, Krishan Kumar.

Speaking to media persons, Kumar said, “The houses over 8 acres of land will be provided to as many as 400 sevayat families in the first phase. An amount of Rs 2 lakh will be given to each family for building the house on 600 sq ft plot. They can invest more money for expansion of the houses.”

He also informed that Srimandir Gurukul to start from the next academic session and Srimandir Adarsha Gurukul Society under the chairmanship of Puri Gajapati to be formed. While Gurukul will be built in over 17-acre land at Matitota, the Odisha govt will bear the entire cost of this.

Wheels of the Ratha Yatra chariots of the deities, which were earlier sold, will be given for free. A sub-committee will prepare the criteria for selection of the individuals/ institutions to whom the wheels shall be given, Kumar further informed.
