Oppositions Protests: Hurl eggs at CM’s carcade in Puri

Puri: Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) and congress activists hurled eggs on Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s carcade and staged black flags at various places during his visit to this pilgrim city to lay foundation stone of Parikarama project of Shree Jagannath Temple.

BJP Yuva Morcha activists led by its Puri district president Jayant Das hurled eggs at chief minister’s car near Hospital square while CM was returning to helipad at reserve police
grounds after performing the shilanyas of Parikrama project.

In another incident congress activists targeted and hurled eggs at state forest and environment and parliamentary affairs minister Bikram Arukh’s car at Malatipatpur along the NH 316 when he was on his way to attend the shilanyas function of the parikrama project Puri. This apart, town youth congress president Alok Das, Asutosh Mishra and Chhabindra Pratihari who have been continuing 24 hour dharana of Basti dwellers deprived of getting land Pattas in front of collectors office, suddenly marched towards Shreemandir to hand over their demands. The agitators breached the barricades but police stopped them.

Kumbharpara police rounded up BJP district youth wing chief Jayant Das along with 15 others. Police also detained ten congress activists in Sadar police station for hurling eggs on minister Bikram Arukh’s car.

The BJP activists in protest against the detention of party activists staged dharana in front of Kumbharpara police station demanding immediate release of Jayant Das.

Notwithstanding the heavy deployment of police forces in the town, the BJP activists were able to break the police cordon to wave black flags and hurl eggs at the CM’s carcade.

Meanwhile, BJP Yuva Morcha President Irasisih Acharya said the party activists will show black flags and hurl eggs at the Chief Minister and other ministers wherever they go till the minister of state for Home is dismissed from the cabinet.
