Odisha to formulate Electric Vehicle Policy
Bhubaneswar : Odisha Cabinet on Friday approved a proposal to
formulate an Electric Vehicle policy with an objective to reduce emissions caused by use of traditional fossil fuel run vehicles and promote manufacture of electric vehicles.
Briefing news persons after the Cabinet meeting, Chief Secretary SC
Mohapatra said that the proposed policy strives to achieve the adoption of 20
percent battery vehicles in all vehicle registration by 2025
to promote manufacture of electric vehicles and its components
including battery in the state itself.
The policy also aims to promote innovation and facilitate research and
development in areas relating to electric vehicles and batteries.
Mr Mohapatra said under the proposed policy guidelines, the Cabinet
has decided to extend financial incentives such as incentives
available for manufacturing industries, purchase incentives, scrapping
incentives, interest subventions in loans, waiving of road tax, and
registration fees during the policy period.
The cabinet, he said, has decided to give incentives under the start
up policy of MSME department.
