Bhubaneswar, Dec 16: The test positivity rate in Odisha on Thursday dropped to 0.26 per cent as out of 64989 tests conducted in the past 24 hours only 173 tested covid positive, taking the cumulative tally in the state to 10,52,318.
Health and Family Welfare department sources said out of 173 new infections from 19 districts,98 were reported from the quarantine centres and 75 as local contact cases.
Khordha district registered the highest number of 84 cases (48.5 per cent) followed by Sundargarh ( 15)and Cuttack (12). These three districts together have 64.16 per cent of the new positive cases reported in the state in the past 24 hours.
Sources said while 16 districts in the state reported single-digit covid cases, eleven districts reported no new cases.
Only one death from Khordha district was recorded in the health audit, pushing the total fatalities in the state to 8440.
The active cases further declined to 1984 of which Khordha district alone accounted for 914 cases followed by Sundargarh ( 120), Cuttack (114) and Mayurbhanj ( 105). These four districts together accounted for 62.9 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
The recoveries surged to 10,41,836 after 108 more covid patients were cured from the virus on Wednesday.
Barring Khordha district which has a 2.1 per cent test positivity rate, the other 29 districts have less than one per cent test positivity rate, 13 of them, however, recorded zero test positivity rate.
