Forest department release 19 cobras in Shirala tehsil

Sangli : District forest division Islampur of this district today released today total 19 cobras confined in a farm house at Kapari village of Shirala tehsil of this district, for exhibited in recently celebrated Nagpanchami festival.
According to forest office, Islampur Vijay Gosavi, on a to forest department officials raided a farm house of one Dinkar Nikam in Kapari village and in search operation forest team found total 19 live Cobra snakes , which confined in bags, sacks, catched by “Sarpmitra” for exhibition purpose in recently celebrated Nagpanchami festival at Battis-Shirala of this district. While during the raid, suspected persons became successful in run away from the spot.
After medical checkup of all 19 live snakes by veterinary officer, all snakes released in forest area.
Mr Gosavi registered complaint in Islampur police, against suspected persons under Wild Life Act 1972 section nine and investigating further.
