Ganjam : An assistant engineer of Lift Irrigation Department, Aska sub-division, was arrested by Vigilance officials on charges of demanding and accepting bribe from a contractor.
According to reports, the accused, Iswar Das, has been apprehended by Vigilance sleuths while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant (Contractor) for clearing bill regarding the construction of River Lift Irrigation Project under Buguda Block, Ganjam.
Following his arrest, the anti-graft wing launched searches on his properties.
A case has been registered against the accused engineer under Sections 7 Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018 and further investigation into the matter is underway, said sources.
