Indravati To Release Water For Kharif Crops
BHAWANIPATNA: The Irrigation Department has informed that water will be released from the Indravati Left Main Canal on January 7 for the next Rabi crop cultivation.
In the current year, the water level in the Indravati Reservoir has risen from 634 meters to 742 metres. At present, the water level is 632.6 meters. As of the end of December last year, the water level was 637.38 meters.
The Irrigation Department was the first to decide on the minimum water level for this limited area. However, at a later date, it was decided that water will be supplied to 18,680.83 hectares of farmland up to 42 km from Podbeda Gate following the request of the farmers.
The OHPC will supply 25 cusecs of water to Mangalpur Barrage per day. At this point the power generation capacity will be 75 MW.
According to departmental sources, the farmers will be supplied water to the paddy fields for a period of 90 days, so that the farmers will be able to cultivate hybrid paddy and oil crops.
