Daily Covid Counts: Odisha Dips Tally Rises to 10,50,354

Bhubaneswar: The daily Covid-19 load in Odisha further dropped to 105 in the past 24 hours taking the total tally in the state to 10,50,354. Health and Family Welfare Department sources said 105 new infections were reported from 15 of the 30 districts in the state which included 62 from the quarantine centres and 43 as local contact cases.

Barring two districts, the other 13 districts have reported single-digit Covid cases in the past 24 hours. Khurdha district registered the highest number of 48 cases followed by 10 in Mayurbhanj. These two districts in the state have accounted for 55 per cent of the total new cases in the state. Only 19 Covid cases were found in the age group of 0 to 18 years.

There has been a sharp decline of Covid cases in Khurdha district from 83 cases on Saturday to 48 cases in the past 24 hours. During the period only one Covid death from Puri district was reported during the health audit taking the total fatalities in the state to 8423.

The test positivity rate(TPR) of the state also dropped to 0.20 per cent. Except for Khurdha district which has a TPR of 1.7 per cent, the other 29 districts have less than one per cent TPR of which as many as 13 districts have recorded zero test positivity rate.

On Sunday 212 covid patients were cured of the virus taking the total recoveries in the state to 10,39,673.
The active cases further declined to 2205 in the state of which Khurdha district alone accounted for a majority of 925 cases followed by Sambalpur( 154) and Cuttack (119). These three districts together accounted for 59.7 per cent of the total active cases in the state.
