Bhubaneswar : As many as 1490 polling persons, around 2,000 police personnel, including three companies of BSF, have been deployed for the smooth conduct of by election to Pipili Assembly constituency scheduled to be held on September 30 next.
Chief Electoral Officer S K Lohani said the Police party will be led by Puri SP and he will be assisted by seven DSPs and three Additional SPs.
He said the constituency has 201 sensitive polling stations in which either Central Police Force /micro observer/ web camera or combination of these measures will be taken.
The CEO said as per the direction of the Election Commission of India all government employees like polling personnel, police personnel, drivers, cameraman, and election agents, counting agents deployed by candidates would have to be fully vaccinated. Special vaccination camps have been organised at Puri, Delano and Pipili for the purpose.
Mr LohanI said 348 BU, CUs, and VVPATS have been deployed in the elections. In addition sufficient number of EVMs have been deployed to meet any exigencies.
He said in all 924 postal ballots have been collected from the residence of eligible voters like people above 80 years, PWD voters and covid suspected/affected voters.
All arrangements like hand gloves, masks, sanitizers , thermal scanning have been made to ensure covid safe elections. Special Covid kit has been provided to polling officials.
Last one hour of poll is dedicated for suspected or confirmed covid cases for which polling teams are provided with PPE kits.
The CEO said so far three complaints of violation of model code of conduct has been received and forwarded to concerned quarter for redress and Rs 5,000 has been collected for the violations of Covid 19 protocols.
