Action on DJ, Fireworks During Processions after 10pm: Commissionerate Police 

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police decided to initiate appropriate legal action against the errant ones regarding fireworks and loud DJ music during marriage processions beyond 10pm. Several complaints of civilians have made the Commissionerate police to take stern decisions. On Tuesday Bhubaneswar DCP, Umashankar Dash said that already clear instructions have been issued to all police stations across the city to initiate action against the defaulters.

Apart from this, the Commissionerate Police has also appealed citizens to inform and register complaints regarding violations on the helpline number 0674-2540294. The citizens can also report or lodge their grievances by calling up 112 or their local police station phone numbers whenever they come across any violation after 10 pm when the night curfew restrictions are in force.

It is pertinent to mention here that the requisite license for baraat or marriage processions are being issued by the concerned DCP offices in the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar. In order to obtain license, an applicant has to submit an agreement (bond) clearly accepting 30 conditions. These conditions include- no use of DJ system and fireworks.

“We have received several complaints regarding violations of the conditions prescribed in the marriage procession licenses. It has also been observed that during relaxations of Covid-19 restrictions, many people are not adhering to the norms,” said Dash.

Dash further said that due to use of DJ systems and display of fireworks, several senior citizens and children are getting adversely affected. Dash further said that no marriage procession is allowed after 10 pm owing to the night curfew restrictions.
