UP: PM to lay foundation of Ganga Expressway

Lucknow: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Saturday lay the foundation of the Ganga Expressway to be constructed with an estimated cost of around Rs 36,230 crore.

Sharing the information Uttar Pradesh Chief Yogi Adityanath tweeted, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to lay foundation of 594 km long Ganga Express-Way today to be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 36,230 crore. The longest Express-Way of the state to connect east and western regions of UP this will be ‘Corridor of Development’.”

“Ganga Express-Way to be constructed in UP will realise a multidimensional shape of socio-economic upliftment. A 3.5 km air strip would be constructed for emergency take off and landing of the aircrafts of Indian Air Force. As an industrial corridor the Expressway will give new heights to development,” he tweeted.

Earlier Yogi tweeted, “Development in the state will not stop, it will continue with higher intensity and and not only in our lives, but for the future generations it will become a reason of sweeping changes.”

Meanwhile after laying the foundation stone of the Expressway the PM is also scheduled to address a public rally at the railway grounds.

Yogi Adityanath government have given approval to the 594 kilometer long Ganga expressway project to be constructed with an estimated cost of Rs 36,230 in November last year. Starting from Merrut this would be the longest expressway in the country.

Official sources said that the expressway which starts from Bijauli village and ends at Judapur Dandu in Prayagraj, passes through 12 districts of the state and will connect eastern and western UP.

Like the Poorvanchal Expressway, a three and a half kilometer long air strip is proposed to be constructed on the expressway for emergency take off and landing of fighter jets at Shahjahanpur.

There is also a proposal to construct an industrial corridor along with the expressway, which will promote industrial development, trade, agriculture and tourism sectors. It would prove to be a mile stone in socio-economic development of the region.

It may be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 16 dedicated to public Poorvanchal Expressway to the people in Sultanpur. The PM had said that expressway was not only a medium of connectivity, but would increase the pace of development.
