UP Poll Fever Warms Up: IT Searches at SP leaders’ Res and Offices

Lucknow: The Income Tax department on Saturday morning conducted searches at the residences of Samajwadi Party leaders in Lucknow, Mau, and Agra districts of Uttar Pradesh. SP termed the action as ‘political raids’.

The searches were carried out at the residence of SP’s national spokesman and secretary Rajeev Rai in Mau, Jainendra Yadav in Lucknow and Manoj Yadav in Agra. Apprehending protest by SP workers a strong police force accompanied the IT teams.

An IT team from Varanasi searched the residence of SP national spokesman and secretary Rajiv Rai in Mau early this morning. As the news spread a large number of party workers and leaders assembled at Rai’s residence.

Reacting to the searches Rai said, “Neither I have any criminal record not do I have any black money. Helping people didn’t go well with the Bhartiya Janata Party dispensation.”

On the other hand SP national chief spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary termed the searches as a ‘political raids. “As assembly elections are nearing therefore these are nothing but political raids,” he said.
