Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin on Wednesday announced distribution of Pongal package comprising 20 items to 2.15 crore ration card holders and Sri Lankan Tamils living in refugee camps to enable them to celebrate the harvest festival in January 2022.
An official release said the Pongal package will be given to all rice card holders and families of Lankan refugees at a total cost of Rs. 1,088 crore. The package will contain, raw rice, jaggery, cashew-nuts, dry grapes, cardamom, dhal, ghee and other grocery items required for cooking during the festival.
