School student dies of electrocution while erecting DMK flag post
Chennai : An eighth standard student died of electrocution
while erecting a flag police of the ruling DMK for a marriage function
attended by Higher Education Minister K Ponmudi in Villuppuram district
of Tamil Nadu.
Police sources said the 13-year-old student was roped in by his father
to assist him in erecting the flag pole on the Villuppuram-Mambalapattu
Road, when he came into contact with a overhead live wire and suffered
shock.
The student, Dinesh of Government High School Villuppuram, died on the
spot.
His body was shifted to Villuppuram government medical college hospital
for autopsy. It was later handed over to his family.
An assistance of Rs 1.5 lah to the family of the boy by the organisers of
the event.
Sources said that no prior permission was obtained from the district
collector for erecting the flag post.
