Covid-19 3rd wave : Daily infections may reach 14,000 ; likely to peak in October

Bhubaneswar : Director of Directorate of Medical Education & Training (DMET), CBK Mohanty, on Monday said Odisha may witness 14,000 cases every day with children most likely to be affected amid the third wave of COVID-19.

” The daily cases in country may reach 4 lakh in the impending third wave of COVID-19 and Odisha may log 14,000 cases everyday. As per experts, the children could be affected as severely as adults, ” said Mohanty.

However, all arrangements are in place for their treatment, added Mohanty.

Meanwhile, State Health Director Bijay Mohapatra said that all COVID hospitals were ready with special facilities.

According to the Health Director, at least 23 out of 100 COVID-infected children would require hospitalisation. COVID hospitals will be equipped with special facilities, the screening will continue. The infection rate is being analysed.
