Prayagraj, Dec 21: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday laid the foundation stones of 202 supplementary nutrition manufacturing units here in Uttar Pradesh and also made online transfer of Rs 1,000 crores into the accounts of 1.60 lakh women self-help groups.
Addressing a public gathering, the Prime Minister said the government was also trying to increase the marriage age of women to 21 so that they can pursue higher education.
“To ensure that girls are not killed before birth, we started the ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ campaign. As a result, the ratio of girls has increased in a number of states,” Modi said.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and other BJP leaders were present on the occasion. Modi also transferred Rs 20 crores into the accounts of 1.01 lakh beneficiaries of Kanya Sumangala Yojna.
