New Delhi, Dec 17:Amid opposition demanding sacking of Minister of State for Home, Ajay Mishra Teni, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday met MPs from Uttar Pradesh over breakfast, and advised them to keep the organisation above everything else. Mishra who is also an MP from the state was, however, not present at the meet.
The Prime Minister met around 40 parliamentarians from the poll-bound state. However, the MPs who attended the meet said he did not talk about the elections.
Sources said the meeting remained ‘apolitical’, and the PM asked the MPs to ask more questions in the House, and raise the issues of their respective constituencies.
He also discussed with the MPs the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” celebrations that have been going on.
There was no discussion on the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, said sources.
Opposition has been building pressure on the government for suspension of the MoS Mishra, whose son is among the accused in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident, in which four farmers and a journalist were killed.
The Prime Minister has been meeting MPs from different states through the session. He has also asked MPs to remain present in the House, and to participate in the proceedings.
