New Delhi :A court here on Friday asked the Delhi Police commissioner to submit the report in a matter, in which a man has allegedly murdered his wife while out on interim bail and noted that the system has failed do its duty to ensure the safety and security of the hapless victim.
In this matter, accused Nanda Nayak was arrested in 2017 by police when he attacked his wife Jharna, her brother and brother-in-law with a knife.
After hearing the regular bail application, the court cancelled the same on July 31 with the observation that he threatened the witnesses of the case and pressured them to withdraw the case.
However, he was released on 90 days interim bail.
Later on, the court cancelled the interim bail of Nayak and ordered to surrender before the jail.
Police has alleged that Nayak has killed his wife Jharna and an eye witness in the case lodged a complaint against him before surrendering to jail.
The police has alleged that Nayak reached the woman’s house in the Govindpuri area and strangulated her with a dupatta. He has been arrested in the murder case.
Additional Sessions Judge Anuj Agrawal after hearing the matter said the police did not diligently comply with an order in which they were directed to ensure her safety and security.
The court said that motto of the Delhi Police of ‘Shanti, Sewa, Nyaya’ seems to have been belied in the instant case and indolence on part of authorities has led to the loss of a precious human life.
Additional Sessions Judge requested to the Delhi Police Commissioner to personally look into the matter and fix the responsibility of erring official and submit a report on the remedial action taken by him.
