Majority Of Our Population Still Not Vaccinated, Rahul Alleges

New Delhi Dec 22: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday raised questions on the vaccination process in the country and alleged that the majority of the population is still not vaccinated.

“Majority of our population is still not vaccinated,” he tweeted and asked about the booster shots.

“When will GOI begin booster shots? #VaccinateIndia,” he said.

He also shared a post of the COVID-19 vaccination data on his twitter handle.

On Monday Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya informed the Rajya Sabha that more than half of the country’s population has been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Mandaviya said vaccinating 130 crore people in the country was a huge challenge compared to other countries with lesser population.

“Still, due to the efforts of our health workers, 88 per cent of the first dose and 58 per cent of the second doses have been administered in the country,” the health minister said.

On the booster dose, the Minister clarified that the decision will be taken after the proper consultations with the expert panel of scientists.

“The Parliament wants to know when the Government will administer booster doses as well as the timeline for children’s vaccination. There are two options before us: one is a political decision and the second is a scientific decision,” he said.

According to Health Ministry data, India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage has exceeded 138.96 Crore as per provisional reports till 7 am on Wednesday.

“This has been achieved through 1,47,11,227 sessions” it said.
