EAM meets Slovenian President, discusses India-EU ties

Ljubljana (Slovenia)/New Delhi : External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Thursday met Slovenian President Borut Pahor and discussed key challenges facing India and the European Union.
Jaishankar, who is on a three-nation tour of Slovenia, Croatia and Denmark, also met Slovenia’s Foreign Minister Anze Logar and had a good exchange of views on Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific.
“Thank Slovenia’s President @BorutPahor for his gracious welcome.
“Deeply appreciate his long standing support for our relationship.
“Discussed key challenges facing India and EU,” he tweeted.
After meeting the foreign minister, he tweeted:
“Excellent meeting with Foreign Minister of Slovenia @AnzeLog.
“Agreed to deepen our political and economic relationship. Welcome Slovenia’s Presidency of EU and confident it will take India-EU ties forward.
“Good exchange of views on Afghanistan and the Indo-Pacific.”
Slovenia currently holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and has invited the EAM to attend an informal meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of EU Member States on September 3.
In the Slovenian capital, Jaishankar attended the Bled Strategic Forum (BSF) and participated in the panel discussion on ‘Partnership for a Rules Based Order in the Indo-Pacific’.
He is to hold discussions with his EU counterparts on issues of mutual interest.
