New Delhi, Dec 27: Even as Omicron fear casts shadow on travel, low-cost carrier SpiceJet has come up with attractive fare deals starting Rs 1,122 one-way fare for various destinations.
The booking for the offer is open till December 31 for travel period from mid-January to mid-April, 2022.
“In order to add flexibility to the travel plans, SpiceJet is pleased to offer a one-time waiver of change fee on sale fare tickets. Passengers booking flight tickets under the sale fare will be able to modify their flight date in case there is a change in the travel plan,” the airline said.
Travel industry veteran and Chairman of Stic Travel Subhash Goyal said that ever since Omicron variant surfaced there have been cancellations in travel plans by both corporates and tourists.
He, however, hopes that the new variant would be much less deadlier than delta and travel industry would be less impacted this time.
The airline industry which earns bulk of its income during winter travel season is keeping fingers crossed as Covid infections are on the rise. An uncontrollable spread of virus could mean flights cancellations with state governments imposing travel restrictions.
As a result, passengers may find their money stuck with airlines. Given the poor financial health of some airlines, it may not be easy for passengers to get timely refunds.
