Doraiswami informs PM Sheikh Hasina on Prez’s visit

Dhaka: High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh Vikram Doraiswami called on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in Dhaka and informed her about the forthcoming visit of President Ram Nath Kovind to Bangladesh to join the Victory Day Celebration. The victory day also marks the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and Golden Jubilee of independence.

“It is a special year and its significance is reflected in the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Bangladesh earlier this year and President Ram Nath Kovind will also visit the country in the same year,” Doraiswami said on Tuesday.

He further said officials of both the countries are finalizing the visit of President Ram Nath Kovind.

He also handed over a rare photograph of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, which was taken in 1972. In the photo, Rahman is seen taking a security personnel to his home to have lunch with him.

The High Commissioner also gave over a pen-drive with audios, videos and newspaper clippings of historic importance.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina stressed the need for boosting connectivity between the two countries to enhance bilateral trade and commerce.

She asserted the relations between Bangladesh and India have reached a new height and significant progress has taken place in trade, business and tourism sectors between the two countries.
