Sensex down by 14.77 points

Mumbai : The BSE Sensex on Wednesday fell marginally by 14.77 points to settle at 55,944.21 on profit booking by local operators.

While, the Nifty rose by 10.05 points to close at 16,634.65.

The market remained volatile today, as the Sensex opened higher by 109 points to 56,067.06. It rallied 240 points to reach 56,198.13, the days high, which was a record high.

In late trade, it slipped and settled at 55,944.31, easing by 14.77 points from its previous close.

The Sensex registered the days high and low at 56,198.13 and 55,899.96 points respectively.

The Nifty recorded the days high and low at 16,712.45 and 16,617.50 points respectively.

The sectoral indices include, Consumer Durable, Realty, Bankex and Telecom which dragged the market.

In scrips, Bajaj Finserv, Titan, Maruti Suzuki, Bharti Airtel and Dr Reddy’s Lab tumbled down, however, buying in TCS, Infosys, Reliance Industries, Hind Unilever and Nestle India capped the market from further losses, brokers informed.

The Mid Cap rose by 0.58 per cent and Small Cap by 0.68 per cent.

In 30 scrips, 9 advanced while 21 declined.

A mixed trend was seen in Asian Market. Hong Kong fell by 0.27 per cent and Japan by 2.07 per cent.

While, Australia rose by 0.51 per cent, China by 1.14 per cent and Taiwan by 0.74 per cent.
