Mah: Sameer Wankede’s Sis Files Criminal Defamation Complaint Against Nawab Malik
Mumbai, Dec 19: A criminal defamation complaint has been filed in a local magistrate court here against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and state Cabinet Minister Nawab Malik, by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) zonal director Sameer Wankede’s elder sister Yasmeen Wankhede for his alleged remarks against her on social media and televised interviews, it was reported here on Sunday.
In her complaint Yasmeen stated that she is associated with various NGOs and works for the poor. She is also president of Chitrapat Sena and addresses issues and grievances of artists and daily workers in the Marathi film industry. Her reputation has been tarnished in the eyes of public at large and she has been made a subject of unwarranted discussion as a result of the remarks made by Minister Nawab Malik.
She further said, Nawab Malik has been acting out of personal grudge against her brother for taking action against his son-in-law in a drugs case, and started making false and defamatory allegations against her and her family members. She said in a series of tweets Malik had alleged she is associated with one Fletcher Patel and that they were indulging in some illegal business in Bollywood. Posting her photograph, she said, he repeatedly referred to her as ‘lady don’. She said another photo of hers was published by Malik alleging that she was engaged in extortion during a trip to the Maldives. She said Malik had also shared a WhatsApp chat screenshot alleging that she had a chat with a drug dealer. Yasmeen Wankhede has urged the court to initiate a criminal defamation case against Nawab Malik.
The plea will come up for hearing on February 25 when the court will verify the documents submitted by the applicant.
