Rupee tanked a 3 week low, 36 paise against USD

Mumbai, Nov 26: The Rupee on Friday tanked 36 paise to close at 74.87, a three week low against the US Dollar due to brisk demand for US Dollar by bankers and exporters, dealers at the Foreign Exchange said.

The local unit continued to slid concerning over a new COVID variant which spooked markets across the globe.

The Rupee eased seven paise at 74.58 in opening trade and till the end of the session, it lost ground by 36 paise to finish at 74.87 as compared to its previous close.

The domestic unit registered days high and low at 74.57 and 74.92 respectively against the US Dollar, dealers added.

The Indian currency dropped on Friday because of a firm Dollar against other world currencies amid sliding stock market, dealers added.
