Odisha: Water treatment plant soon to keep Daya river pollution free

Bhubaneswar, Dec 7 : A water treatment plant with latest technology will be set up on the confluence of Daya river and Gangua canal to make the Daya river water pollution free.
A high level meeting held here on Thursday decided that WATCO would set up the water treatment plant .
IDCO, State Pollution Control Board and BMC will regularly monitor the solid waste and waste water discharged from various industrial units and see how it could be treated.
The meeting also decided that WATCO and SPCB will also regularly examine the waste water before it reaches the water treatment plant.
Nabin Odisha and 5T Chairman V K Pandian directed the State Pollution Control Board ,Urban Development department and Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) to take initiatives to make water of Daya river pollution free.
The joining of the sewage line of various institutes in the BMC area with the sewage line has been made mandatory to keep the Daya river water clean.
Pandian directed officials to create awareness to ensure that all houses in the BMC area are connected with the sewage line at the earliest.
He also asked the WATCO to coordinate with various agencies and to connect all areas including the slums with the sewage system and complete the work in a time bound manner.
