Zelensky Warns Mercenaries Against Joining Russian Forces

Kyiv, March 18: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has warned fighters wanting to join Russian forces in Ukraine that it would be “the worst decision of your life”. In his daily video address on Telegram, he said, “Long life is better than the money you are offered for a short one.” He also claimed that Ukraine has information the Russian military is recruiting mercenaries from other countries, but said this will not help them, CNN reported. He pointed out that the Ukrainian forces are still holding all important areas of the country and new Russian conscripts have been taken as prisoners.

“We do not need 13 or any number of thousands of dead Russian soldiers,” he added. Addressing the Russian citizens, the President said, “We didn’t want this war. We only want peace. And we want you to love your children more than you fear your authorities.” Speaking on earlier dialogue with the German lawmakers, Zelensky said, Germany is “looking for a new path” away from Russia. He said, “The speech was delivered not just as President, but as a Ukrainian citizen. As a European. “As someone who has felt for many years that the German state seems to have fenced itself off us with a wall. Invisible yet solid wall. “We have seen Germany fight for the economy for decades. “For new Russian gas pipelines and old European dreams. Dreams of some kind of co-operation that Russia has not taken seriously for a long time. “We see that the views of the Germans are changing. And this is very important. We see Germany looking for a new path.” UNI
