Pallikal Makes Winning Return Post Motherhood
Glasgow, April 6: India’s Dipika Pallikal had a winning return to the court after becoming a mother as she won two of her three matches on the opening day of the World Doubles Squash Championships here at the Scotstoun Leisure Centre.
In the women’s doubles Group B match, Dipika and her partner Joshna Chinappa, registered a 11-6, 11-8 win over Malaysian pair Ainaa Ampandi and Yiwen Chan on Tuesday.
In the second match, the third seeded Indians suffered a 7-11, 9-11 defeat at the hands of Australians Rachael Grinham and Donna Lobban.
The 12 teams are competing in women’s doubles and have been divided into two groups with the top two teams will make it to semifinals and the rest will play classification matches. In the mixed doubles, Dipika and her partner Saurav Ghosal, who are seeded second, registered a hard-fought 11-7, 10-11, 11-6 win over Evan Williams and Kaitlyn Watts of New Zealand. The 20 teams are participating in mixed doubles have been divided into four groups of five teams each. The top two teams from each group will qualify for the quarterfinals.
