Noida, Aug 6: After a shocking video at a Noida society of a man abusing a family went viral, police on Saturday booked the main accused and detained his wife and six others.
Shrikant Tyagi, who claimed to be a BJP Kisan Morcha leader, was booked earlier in the day by the Noida Police for allegedly threatening the woman at the Grand Omaxe Society on Friday.

The viral video on Friday showed the woman saying Tyagi used bad words for her, her husband and even her children. Tyagi was seen pushing her and even allegedly threatening her with dire consequences in the purported video.
The incident took place when the woman objected to Tyagi planting trees in her housing society.
On Saturday, even as Tyagi was absconding after police took note of the incident, his wife and six others were detained.
Shrikant Tyagi has claimed to be a leader of the Kisan Morcha of the Bharatiya Janata Party. But BJP has quickly distanced itself. MP and national president of Kisan Morcha, Rajkumar Chahar, said Tyagi has no affiliation with BJP.
Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) (Central) Ankita Sharma told UNI, “Seven persons, including Tyagi’s wife and some close ones have been detained by the police and they are being quizzed.”
Police sources said they have also seized some vehicles of Tyagi. “Four teams have been constituted to nab Tyagi, who is still absconding and raids are being conducted at his possible hideouts. Some mobile numbers have been put on surveillance,” the police said.
The incident took place at the Grand Omaxe Society in Sector 93B under Phase 2 police station. At one point during the altercation Tyagi even pushed and shoved the woman.
ADCP Sharma said in a tweet earlier: “In that video it could be seen that a person named Shrikant Tyagi is using indecent language against a woman, making objectionable comments, abusing and is having a scuffle with her.”
She said Noida Police took immediate cognizance of the incident and a case was lodged. “Stern punitive action will be taken against the accused,” she said.
As BJP distanced itself from Tyagi, Chahar uploaded a video statement on Twitter and said:
