Sambalpur: a 12-hour dawn to dusk bandh is being observed by the Sambalpur Nagarika Kriyanusthana Committee in the district over five-point charter of demands including formation of a separate Koshal state.
The other demands are permanent bench of the Orissa High Court in Sambalpur, inclusion of Sambalpuri language in the Eighth Schedule of the Indian Constitution, to stop introduction of electric prepaid meters and installation of water meters in Sambalpur.
Shops and business establishments remained closed while vehicular movement was affected due to the bandh. Emergency services, educational institutions and vehicles carrying examinees have been excluded from the ambit of the bandh.
