Bengal Police recovered 30 live crude bombs from Gaya bound passenger bus

Asansol : Bengal Police aided by intelligence officials have uncovered and seized some 30 live crude bombs from a Gaya bound passenger bus and detained a suspect, police said on Wednesday.

Following an input, the IB and armed West Bengal police chased the private bus, which was carrying passengers, and forced the vehicle to halt on NH 2 at kulti under East Bardhaman district on Tuesday night. A search inside the bus yield policemen to seized the crude bombs, which were packed in a plastic sack.

Police said the contraband consignment was to be delivered to a man in Jharkhand, whose identity was also found in the bag.

Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissioner Ajay Thakur said the matter was being investigated.

A separate report from Baharampur said an explosion in a house wounded a woman, who has been admitted to the Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital.

The explosion happened around 8 pm on Tuesday in the house of Prabir Mondal at Banjetia Beltala in which his mother was 3sustained splinter wounds.

There had been no arrest far in the case as the man was not at his home. Police said the explosion happened after the stocked explosive went off.
