Bhubaneswar, Apr 2: The Additional District & Sessions Judge, Raigarh has awarded life imprisonment to Ex-MLA Anup Sai. Former Brajarajnagar MLA, was arrested by Chhattisgarh police in a double murder case of Kalpana Das and her daughter Bobbly.
Kalpana Das (32) and her daughter were allegedly murdered in a forest at Hamirpur of Chhattisgarh in 2016. Later in 2020 the Ex-MLA and his driver Bardhan Toppo was arrested by the Chhattisgarh police. Raigarh District and Sessions Judge Court has acquitted the driver of Sai in the case.
To the unversed, Sai was picked up by officials of Chakradhar Nagar police station in Chhattisgarh’s Raigarh district from a temple near his residence in western Odisha’s Jharsuguda town for questioning in the double murder case of 2016 in which the bodies of a woman identified as Kalpana Das (32) and her minor daughter had been recovered from an area in Chhattisgarh close to Jharsuguda border.
It is suspected that the mother-daughter duo was killed somewhere in Jharsuguda district and their bodies were dumped across the border later. There was also an intentional attempt to make the murder look like the case of a road accident.
