Low Pressure Over Odisha, Adjacent: MeT
Amaravati, July 9: A low pressure area has formed over Odisha and adjoining areas that will bring heavy rainfall to Andhra and Yanam.
Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over northwest and adjoining west-central Bay of Bengal off south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts the associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level tilting south-westwards with height, Meteorological Centre here said on Saturday.
Issuing a bulletin, it said that heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at Isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam during next 24 hours till Sunday.
Heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam during the next five days, in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the next 24 hours and in Rayalaseema during the next 24 hours.
Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning are likely at isolated places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam during the next five days, in South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next three days.
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at most places or many places or at few places in North Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema during the next five days.
The Southwest Monsoon has been vigorous over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours.
Extremely heavy rainfall occurred at one or two places over Vizianagram district of Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the period.
Very heavy rainfall occurred at one or two places over Srikakulam and Vizianagram districts of Coastal Andhra Pradesh and heavy rainfall occurred at one or two places over Vizianagram district of Coastal Andhra Pradesh during the last 24 hours.
Rainfall occurred at most places over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam and at many places over Rayalaseema during the same period, the bulletin added.
