New Maharashtra Govt Will Fall Soon: Mamata
Kolkata, July 4: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday predicted the new Eknath Shinde government In Maharashtra will fall soon.
“I believe this government will not continue. It’s an unethical undemocratic government. They might have won the government, but they did not win the heart of Maharashtra,” Banerjee said, speaking at the fifth edition of the India Today Conclave East that began here during the day.
Banerjee accused the BJP of “bulldozing” democracy by “misusing” its power.
“You can bulldoze democracy by misusing your power, but the people of this country will bulldoze you using democratic means,” she said.
Banerjee went on to allege that Maharashtra’s Shiv Sena rebel MLAs were supplied with “money and other things by the BJP in Assam”.
The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government comprising the Shiv Sena, Nationalist Congress Party and the Indian National Congress lost its majority after most of the Sena MLAs revolted against then Chief Minister and party chief Uddhav Thackeray, and camped first in Gujarat’s Surat and then in Assam’s capital Guwahati.
Thackeray was forced to resign.
