289 From K’taka Stranded In Ukraine
Bengaluru, Feb 25: Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai on Friday spoke to External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar seeking the Central government’s intervention to safely bring back students hailing from Karnataka stranded in Ukraine. A total of 289 people from Karnataka are now in Ukraine.
“The Union government is doing everything possible to bring back the stranded Indians safely. Possibilities of taking them to safety back through land route options are being explored as the air services have been hit by the war with Russia,” the Chief Minister told reporters here.
The Indian Embassy in Ukraine is in touch with the stranded Indian students, he said. “The Indian embassy has details of the students and their whereabouts. The state government has appealed to them to provide food and water to them,” he said. According to Nodal Officer Manoj Rajan, there are 289 persons from Karnataka stranded in Ukraine.
