Youth Takes His Own Life After Losing Family Members in Gas Explosion

Bolangir: A devastating gas cylinder explosion in the Belapada area of Bolangir district has left a community reeling with grief, claiming the lives of four individuals, including a 19-year-old youth who tragically ended his own life today.

The incident, which occurred last week, has sent shockwaves throughout the locality as residents grapple with the profound loss and trauma. The death toll from the explosion rose to four after one more victim succumbed to severe burns on Friday, compounding the anguish and despair already felt by the community.

According to reports, the fateful day unfolded as six individuals gathered to watch television inside a residence when a gas cylinder in the kitchen suddenly ignited and exploded. The resulting inferno engulfed the house, leaving several occupants critically injured.

Prompt action by local residents led to the rescue of the injured, who were swiftly transported to the Kantabanji Community Health Centre for urgent medical attention. Subsequently, they were transferred to a private hospital in Rourkela for specialized care.

Tragically, the toll of the blast continued to mount as one individual passed away on February 12, followed by two more fatalities on February 15. Another devastating blow was dealt to the community with the news of yet another related death reported on Friday. Presently, two individuals remain hospitalized, their condition deemed critical by medical professionals.

Amidst the grief and anguish, the community is left grappling with profound questions and seeking solace in the face of such overwhelming loss. Authorities are conducting thorough investigations into the circumstances surrounding the explosion, while efforts to support and assist the affected families are underway.
