Odisha Records A Massive Upsurge In Covid-19 Tally, The Highest Single-Day Spike Since June Last Year

Bhubaneswar: In a massive upsurge in Covid-19 cases, Odisha has registered 7071 positive in the last 24 hours.

The total cases include 707 in the 0-18 years age group have been found, informed the Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department on Monday.

Among the 7071 positives, 4128 are quarantine cases and 2943 are local contacts. There are a total of 27,216 active cases. The positivity rate stands at 10.24%.

Khordha has reported the highest with 2226 cases, followed by Sundargarh (1147), Sambalpur (609), Cuttack (505) and Mayurbhanj (201).

This is the highest single-day spike since June last year.

With these cases being detected from 69,018 samples, the test positivity jumped to 10.24 per cent from 6.49 per cent the previous day.

On the other hand a 55 years old female of Bolangir district who was also suffering from Hypertension has succumbed to Covid-19 in Odisha, informed State Health & Family Welfare Department.
