Snowfall Turns Sahara Into Winter Dreamland

Ain Sefra (Algeria), Jan 19 : For the fifth time in 42 years, snow settled on the sands of Sahara desert in Africa after temperatures dropped below -2C.
According to Daily Mail, pictures of snow blanketing the sand dunes in Algeria’s Ain Sefra were taken by photographer Karim Bouchetata on January 17.
Ain Sefra, also known as ‘The Gateway to the Desert’, is approximately 3,000 feet above sea level with Atlas Mountains surrounding it.
The photographer posted pictures of snow dusted on top of dunes creating unusual patterns in the sand on his Instagram handle.
Previously, the town of Ain Sefra witnessed snowfall in 1979, 2016, 2018 and 2021.
