This expose is indeed shocking and sends a message what are all going on in the fields we esteem so highly. A very senior politician and a six times Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh, chief of the Wrestling Federation of India, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, is in a jinx.
Some known and highly famed Wrestlers of India are out on a Dharna at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, are protesting against Brij Bhushan for his alleged acts of sexually exploitation of the female wrestlers for long.
It is also puzzling to know that, if that was happening for so long why was it hidden for so long.
Among the protesting wrestlers are the prominent ones such as Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, Vinesh Phogat and their demand is clear that Brij Bhushan being a very powerful man and MP from the BJP wields both power and influence.
“ I am willing to be hanged” Bhushan said if the allegations are found to be true.
Some of India’s most prominent wrestlers such as Vinesh Phogat, Sakshi Malik and Bajrang Punia are protesting at New Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, calling out Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for allegedly exploiting female wrestlers for several years.
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh is a powerful man and presently the BJP MP from Kaiserganj in Uttar Pradesh. On his part, he has denied the allegations and said that he is “willing to be hanged” if these allegations are found true.
His background shows that he and his family are deeply rooted in politics. Himself a six times MP, his wife is also a MLA presently from the BJP.
Besides, Brij Bhushan is known as an accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case of 1992 and he had a stain of being booked under TADA for allegedly playing the role of shelter support to the people of the internationally known underworld king Dawood Ibrahim.
His last election affidavit reveals that, in 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Singh has four pending cases against him in Ayodhya and Gonda. He faces charges such as dacoity, attempt to murder and rioting, among others.
How he got such a rise?
Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh has been president of the WFI for close to a decade. Despite criticism of his style of functioning, he has maintained his hold over the federation. He had even allegedly assaulted a wrestler on stage during a function.
And it all goes on under the shades of his political clout and hold inside the party. And that was how he has an unstinted tenure in the WFI till date. And it is no mere allegation that some of the famous international wrestlers are openly charging the political heavy weight like Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh of sexual misconduct.
There has been no louder voice heard in support of Brij Bhushan except some sources telling the media that, it were all with the tacit support of the detractors within the BJP else the wrestlers would not have dared to be in the open levelling such an allegation which may hamper their career graph also.
But this cannot be ignored by the authorities so easily. They say that, young female wrestlers have been exploited by this MP, a man whose background is so much laced with criminal tracks.
